Do your kids love to read like mine do? Do your kids love a challenge? Pottery Barn Kids is doing a summer reading challenge for young kids. Just go to their website, go their summer reading challenge page, download the summer reading lists, print the certificate of completion when your child is done, and bring it to your local PBK store. Your child will get a special gift just for reading this summer! Some of my family's favorite books are on the list, including Llama llama, Fancy Nancy, and Olivia!
If you have an older child,or if there isnt a PBK near you, make a list of your own. Check out your local library and see if they have an age appropriate reading list, or check out your town's website for the next grades summer reading list. I bet you'll find atleast a few books that your child will like to read this summer. Give them a challenge! Don't make reading a chore, make it fun. Make it a family thing! Do a family reading time, where you all lay on a blanket with some snacks (page friendly.... you dont want orange cheesy fingerprints all over your books!) and read for 20-30 minutes under a tree. Read a chapter or two each night to your kiddos, and make it fun! Do it with a flashlight, under the covers. Your kids will look forward to it each night and they'll remember these moments for years to come.
